Supplies to get before you bring your puppy home
What to Buy Before Bringing Your Puppy Home
In this video, we’ll go over the essential items you actually need before bringing your puppy home. Many new puppy owners rush to buy leashes, collars, and a long list of supplies, but it’s best to wait on some of those purchases until you know what fits your puppy properly.
For young puppies under 10 pounds, a simple cat collar works best for a short period since they grow so fast. Instead of spending money on expensive gear that won’t last, focus on the essentials:
• Food – Check with your breeder and get the same food your puppy has been eating.
• Water and food dishes – Keep it simple and easy to clean.
• Small puppy crate – Choose one just big enough for your puppy to lie down, preventing accidents inside. Avoid large wire crates in the beginning.
• Breeder-recommended supplements – Keep your puppy’s diet consistent.
• Retractable wire octagon kennel – Great for setting up a safe space indoors.
